Google Play closed-test link not working?

Check the invited account

Ask the tester which Google account is selected in the browser and Play Store. Compare it with the address you invited. For a group-based test, confirm membership of the group configured for that track. A forwarded link alone does not grant access.

Send the shareable link from the intended closed-testing track. Keep internal-test invitations and ordinary store links separate in your message.

Check the release and track

In Play Console, confirm that the intended tester list is selected and changes are saved. Check the release status rather than assuming that uploading a build made it available. Google notes that first publication and later changes can take several hours to reach testers.

A tester enrolled in an internal test must leave that test before joining an open or closed test for the same app. Follow Google’s testing-track instructions for your setup.

Separate access from installation

If the person can join but cannot install, record the store message, device model, Android version and expected app version. Review your app’s country availability and supported devices. If the store asks for payment, use your agreed paid-app access plan rather than repeatedly sending the same invitation.

Use a short access-check record

• Which step failed: invitation, opt-in, download or launch?
• What exact message appeared, and when?
• Which app build and testing track were intended?
• Can another invited tester reproduce the same issue?
• What changed since the previous successful attempt?

Ask one tester to repeat the complete journey after a fix before contacting the whole group. Share screenshots with account details hidden. If access still fails, provide this record to Play Console support.
